Five steps to long lasting lips
For the perfect long lasting pout you need a process. Here is mine:
1. Use a vaseline chapstick as your base - it moisturises and nourishes your lips making it easier for other products to sit on because lip liners can be a little hard sometimes and can hurt your skin. So this makes it glide on easier and you get the benefits of keeping nice soft lips.
2. Outline your lips in a darker lip liner to get the shape you desire for definition. I wouldn't recommend going fully out and past your actual lips, some people do but it can make it look fake or like a botched lip job, so I wouldn't advise that! Try to keep it as close to the edge of your lips as possible. If I'm going for a nude lip I usually outline in the Mac lipliner, in shade Whirl, but sometimes for extra definition I use Burgundy. If I'm going for a red or a bright pink lip colour I use the Mac lipliner in shade Burgundy or I'll use Night Moth for extra definition.
3. Use a coloured lip liner that matches your over all look, and colour the whole lip, whilst blending the darker liner into the edges. Having this as your second base on your lip will ensure the colour remains all day, or night.
4. Apply your chosen liquid lipstick all over your lips. Now when it comes to choosing a liquid lipstick it can be so confusing because there are so many out there, but I've used so many I can tell you my top three that really are the long lasting ones. After doing the first three steps, if you apply Mabellines superstay 24 matt ink lipstick, I guarantee you even when it comes to the end of the day, you still won't be able to get this off without a good oil based cleanser. So this is my favourite and it's affordable. Second place goes to Huda Beauty's matt liquid lipstick, again it lasts the entire day, you don't need any touch ups and it will come off easily with a good cleanser at the end of the day. Finally in third place is Kylie Jenner's liquid lipsticks - these are amazing and won't budge, but they can be a little drying, so when your applying step one, make sure you put a lot of vaseline on your lips so that they still look moisturised through out the day.
5. Use a highlighter to go above the cupids bow and under the lower lip. This will give you the lustrous look that everybody wants. You'll have an amazing matt lip, which is defined, and the shape of your cupids bow will be highlighted giving you a perfect pout.
Optional step: use a lip strobe to highlight your lips or give it a glossy look.
