Apply mascara like a pro

01/08/2020

Sometimes applying mascara can be tricky, and inevitably you will get excess product on your eyelids which can be so annoying! But I've grasped a really good method that I've been doing for years, which hardly makes a mess (occasionally maybe one black dot but its an easy clean!).

People always ask me if I'm wearing false lashes, to which I proudly respond - no they're mine! So I'm going to show you the method and products I use to make my lashes stand out without making a mess:

1. Use an eyelash curler to curl your lashes. I know it's a pretty basic step but not everyone does this but it's important because it helps define your lashes and naturally curl them! Just make sure when you're doing this the curler is right on the tip of your lash roots, but be careful you don't want to pinch your skin - that can be painful!

2. Prime your lashes - again not a lot of people do this but this keeps your mascara in place the entire day. So it's another important step. I use the L'Oreal Paris Paradise mascara primer. It's around £11.99 and its a white, light formula that sits on your lashes ready for the mascara.

3. Using your mascara, start at the root of your upper lash line and wriggle the brush from left to right in an upwards motion. Keep doing this until your lashes are full of volume and lengthened.

4. Go to your lower lash line, and starting at the root of the lashes, wriggle the brush in a downwards motion from left to right until you have your desired length and volume.

5. Let the mascara dry and set. Then you're ready and good to go!

I use the L'Oreal Paris volume million lashes excess. Trust me when I say this - this is the best mascara ever invented! Honestly, its so easy to apply, it gives you thickness, volume and length; and it's so easy to remove!

I use warm water and rub my lashes gently with my fingertips at the end of the day to get rid of the product, and then finish off with a cleanser and toner. There are other good mascaras out there but they're not as easy to remove like this one, so this has been my go to since I was in my teens. Over the years I've tried so many other mascaras but still always come back to this - so I would never change it.
